More Information

Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.

GENESIS 2:7

Certainly, you have already heard that man was created with a body, soul and spirit. These three components form a unity and are inseparably bound to each other. What we do with our bodies has a direct impact on our spirits and souls. And vice-versa. If someone says that he cannot stand someone else, then he is describing a bodily reaction to a perception of the soul.

This also applies to our sexuality. Our spiritual longing has physical effects and vice-versa. If our sexuality however has been corrupted through years of consuming pornography, it can result in our being caught in a vicious circle from which we cannot escape on our own power.

When I started consuming pornography, I had just reached my personal low point. My wife had separated from me, I had blown an important test at the university and by doing that had wrecked my planned university studies. So I fled from reality and into masturbation and pornography.

Why? Yeah, why, really? It very suddenly became clear to me that I had never seriously asked myself this question before. Neither had anyone ever asked me. No man in my immediate social circle had ever asked me this question. It was always a question of how you kept yourself away from pornography, and not about why you consume it in the first place. So, I asked God. I did the unthinkable. I watched a porn video and while I was doing it, I asked God, why I was really doing it.

Why do you watch porn videos?
